My name is Louise Kellett and I am the Principle Speech and Language Therapist at Total Speech Therapy.
I am based in the North East of England where I live and work. I have over 20 years experience of working with acquired speech, language, voice and swallowing disorders in the NHS. I currently work part time in the NHS. I am extremely passionate about helping people to communicate more effectively and with confidence.
I am a long standing member of the:
And I have full enhanced DBS clearance.
I use a range of assessments, both formal and informal, to help us to build a suitable therapy plan together. I am very client centred in my approaches and use evidence based practice wherever possible.
The words 'total communication' are a strong focus of my communication therapy, hence 'Total Speech Therapy'. I have extensive experience of working with aphasia, dysarthria, speech dyspraxia, voice disorders, and dysphagia.
Additionally I have experience with respiratory disorders and their impact on communication, throat irritation and swallowing.
I offer a free telephone consultation in the first instance to discuss what you require. You will be able to ask any questions and we can discuss if I can provide a service that suits you. Prices will be set out during this contact. An initial assessment visit can then be arranged, at your convenience. Once an assessment has taken place, a quote with terms and conditions will be provided.
I have experience of working with stroke, Dementia, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, Huntington's, MND, head & neck cancers and voice disorders (ENT referral required). Established assessment and communication therapy techniques are available.
Dysphagia, or swallowing problems can arise from a range of difficulties. I am able to offer assessment, advice and therapy (if indicated) in this area.
I can also offer speech therapy techniques for increasing confidence in communicating. This could range from public speaking, interview techniques or social interaction.
